  Jamie McMurray Surprises, Wins Pole

Jamie McMurray outdrove the road racing specialists and the rest of the contenders Friday to win his first pole in nearly two years at the NASCAR Nextel Cup Toyota/Save Mart 350. McMurray posted his lap of 1 minute, 17.521 seconds (92.414 mph) on the 1.99-mile Infineon Raceway road course midway through the session, then had to wait for NASCAR's top qualifier Ryan Newman and former Formula One star Juan Pablo Montoya, both at the rear of the qualifying line, to try to knock him off. Read More

  Carl Edwards Wins Michigan 400

Carl Edwards snapped a 52-race Nextel Cup winless streak Sunday by holding off Martin Truex Jr. at Michigan International Speedway. “Is it really over?” Edwards excitedly asked his crew as he closed in on the finish line.  Read More

  Gordon Wins Pocono

The 2007 Pocono 500 turned out to be an exercise in pit strategy. Rain delayed the start of the race and then brought out the red flag just past the halfway point. Jeff Gordon's crew chief made exactly the right call and Gordon was out front when the skies opened up. Gordon was out of tires, brakes and fuel but still managed to claim the 2007 Pocono 500 victory.  Read More

  Newman Captures Another Pole

“Rocket Man” Ryan Newman motored around the "Tricky Triangle" in a quick time of 52.922, for a speed of 170.062 mph earning him the pole position for Sunday’s Pocono 500. Newman is on a roll as has won the last three poles and 41 in his career. He will be joined on the front row by 2006 Pocono sensation Denny Hamlin who clocked in with a lap of 53.169.278, 169.278 mph. Read More

  NASCAR Places Kurt Busch on Probation

Kurt Busch paid a hefty price for his fit in the pit. The former Nextel Cup champion was docked 100 driver points Friday, fined $100,000 and placed on probation until the end of the year for reckless driving and endangering one of Tony Stewart's crew members on pit road. Read More
